Application of improper Lean tool, in improper place can cause more harm than good in companies having the advanced culture of work organization. Many companies, on their workers suggestion, invested millions of PLN in new machines while the efficiency of the old ones was coming to 30%. Outwardly, a machine seemed to be in motion all the time and people seemed not to know what to do with their hands.

Advanced diagnosis methods allow to find out the precise answer for the following questions:

  • What is the value of time leading to produce added value, i.e. how long does the real, valuable work take?
  • Should I buy a new machine, or maybe the productivity of the old one can be increased? Image
  • If you decide to choose the latter one, then it should be defined whether the problem is an organization, changeovers, human problems or maybe a machine unreliability?
  • Do operators have correctly determined working time? And maybe working time is too long what results in making errors? And maybe there are some reserves?
  • Are workers from nonproduction departments involved in the most important processes or in the activities which do not require their professional knowledge?
  • What does really decide about formation of a bottleneck in a given place?
  • How should I plan precisely, exact to 0.036 sec., the production process?

Despite of the name, the Advanced Diagnosis is not difficult to be carried out. We need a week and about 10 people from your company who will conduct a diagnosis with us. They will also have the opportunity to apply it in the future, so there will be no need to use Polish Productivity Center assistance in diagnosing.   

The tools proposed by us constitute the complete or elements of PPA®, i.e. Productivity Potential Assessment. This method was developed in Sweden, in 2005 for the commission from Swedish Government. The Swedes love simplicity. No wonder that a group of consultants and scientists was to devise a fast and simple tool to present the potential of a given production system. What’s more, the Swedes combined these measurements with a type of benchmarking. Thus, companies can compare themselves with others and evaluate the development degree of their production system.

The Advanced Diagnosis proposed by us covers three types of resources: people, machines and a process. The corresponding measurement techniques are: Frequency Analysis, OEE measurement and VSM elements. All these commonly known techniques are adequately simplified and adjusted to the diagnosis needs. Your worker will master their application during 5-day’s Pilot Study workshops. The measurements are completed with data, obtained during workshops, about the plant and its production system.
